New High Bay Warehouse for Reemtsma in Langenhagen

With its new building for an automated high bay warehouse with six aisles for about 24,500 pallets in Langenhagen near Hanover (Germany), Reemtsma will in the future store finished products and so-called 'NTM' (= non-tobacco materials) such as packages centrally at one location. The product range of the tobacco manufacturer with well-known brands such as West and Davidoff includes about 1,500 different finished products as well as 1,000 NTM. Apart from central storage, another asset is the direct connection of the new warehouse to the existing production which will also reduce transport costs.

For this project, Reemtsma confides in Klug integrierte Systeme as general contractor for steel construction, conveyor and warehouse technology as well as material flow control and automatic controls. The intralogistics specialist from Teunz will implement the module for material flow control iWACS.MFC as well as the visualisation tool iWACS.SIAM from its tried and tested software concept iWACS®. With the realisation of the interface to the superior host system, Klug also provides for a smooth data transmission. For the other crafts, Klug relies on competent partners.

Steel construction has already been completed, the automatic cranes have been mounted, and commissioning for automation and control technology is in progress since September. IT commissioning of the material flow controls has been started in October in order to realise the intended productive use as from February 2010. Acceptance for this project is planned – after an overall project cycle of only 15 months – for March 2010.
